George Papaioannou, CFA

George Papaioannou has three decades of experience in securities analysis, business valuation, and strategy development. Throughout his career, he has developed, analyzed, evaluated, and executed upon a variety of business models, from an investment and operational perspective.

George has spent the bulk of his career on Wall Street, valuing equity securities and positioning investment opportunities with institutional investors. As a research analyst for Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, he covered the media & entertainment sector. George developed valuation opinions on publicly traded companies and IPO candidates at DLJ, and played a central role in the completion of IPOs and secondary offerings worth a total of over $3 billion.

As product manager for Thomas Weisel Partners, George oversaw the equity research department’s daily output. He worked with each of the firm's analysts to formulate valuation opinions, and played a central role in developing thematic investment ideas and positioning them with suitable institutional investors. George was a member of Thomas Weisel Partners' Research Review Committee, which reviewed and approved stock rating changes.

As a strategy consultant with IBM Global Services, George specialized in the development and execution of Internet strategies for Global 2000 media companies. His work at IBM Global Services focused on assessing the potential contribution to enterprise value of various client initiatives under consideration.

George is an Adjunct Professor in the MBA program at Rider University. He serves as an Advisor for Tigerlabs Ventures, a Princeton, NJ-based venture capital fund and accelerator program. George is a member of the Entrepreneurial Sounding Board of the Eugene Lang Entrepreneurship Center at Columbia University. He has served as Executive Director of the Greek American Chamber of Commerce, and as Director for Minds Matter of New York, a mentoring program for underprivileged youth.

George holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. He has completed the Principles of Valuation (POV) program in Business Valuation of the American Society of Appraisers (ASA). George is a member of the Los Angeles Society of Securities Analysts and the CFA Institute. He holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Data Science and Business Analytics from The University of Texas at Austin.

George earned an MBA in finance from Columbia University, where he studied with Joel Stern, creator of the Economic Value Added (EVA) framework for value management. He earned a BA in history from Cornell University.
